Food co-op is open for business | Slideshow

The Orcas Food Cooperative opened its doors this weekend to a crowd of enthusiastic islanders.

Shoppers turned out for the grand opening on June 1 to peruse the co-op's goods, listen to live music and sample food.

The market is located in the old Homegrown building in Doty's Marketplace in Eastsound. It underwent a full renovation and features a deli, outside seating and a wide variety of local products. A dedicated group of volunteers and staff have been working on the project since this past October.
