On Wednesday, Feb. 12, at about 1:50 p.m. a single vehicle rollover motor vehicle crash occurred on Turn Point Road near Pinedrona, east of Friday Harbor. The 1990 Toyota 4Runner was traveling west on Turn Point Road when it failed to negotiate a curve to the left. As it left the roadway, the driver overcorrected causing the vehicle to come back across the road and roll over.

The vehicle was driven by a newly licensed 16-year-old Friday Harbor girl. She had the other Friday Harbor girls in the vehicle with her, ages 15, 16 and 17. Three of the girls were transported by ambulance to Peace Island Medical Center. None of the injuries are believed to be life threatening.

All four teens were wearing safety belts. Alcohol or other drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash. The crash remains under investigation, and no charging decisions will be made until the investigation is complete.
