The Olga Daze festival is coming up next month, and organizers are putting the word out to folks who'd like to participate: Now is the time to make contact.

Traditionally held on the third Saturday of July — that's the 15th this year — Olga Daze is a local festivity full of entertainment and fun.

At 11 a.m. there is a parade with music and floats and walking participants. Actually, there's not a whole lot of any of the above, according to organizers; but after all, this is known jokingly as the "shortest parade in the world," and most of the spectators end up joining it.

Following the parade there will be craft booths such as C&C's Tees (top-quality printed T-shirts), baked goods, pottery display and teaching by Trudy Erwin, cotton candy, pony rides, blacksmithing exhibit, wool spinning exhibit, artists, the Olga Quilt for sale, hot dogs, chili, strawberry shortcake, homemade cheese cake and other attractions yet unknown.

If you would like to be in the parade or to have a booth and have not been contacted, call Barbara Wheeler at 376-3224 by Saturday, July 1. There is no charge for a booth.
