Halloween dance at Odd Fellows Hall
June 17, 2008 · Updated 5:26 PM
Last year's Halloween Dance at the Odd Fellows Hall was the best ever -- fantastic music, fun costumes, beautiful evening, not too scary.
This year's dance, which starts Monday, Oct. 31, at 8:30 p.m., should be even better, because it will feature the band Swampdweller, which rocked the Bumbershoot music festival Labor Day weekend in Seattle.
This seven-member band's music is an infectious danceable blend of acid jazz, world, soul, hip hop and rock rhythms. It will be enhanced by a special sound-absorbing curtain that reduces the reverberation of sound in the large hall.
Mai-Lan will be serving her special blend of Asian food downstairs in the kitchen.
The Odd Fellows will be raffling a cord of firewood. Raffle tickets will be available at the dance, and the winner will be announced there at 10 p.m.
All proceeds from the dance will go to help the Odd Fellows provide service to the community, including helping families stay warm in the winter, providing manpower to help those in distress, and feeding hundreds of people in the Orcas community at the Odd Fellows Hall Thanksgiving dinner.
