Myhr maintained a comfortable lead over Jamie Stephens after San Juan County elections officials updated their count on Thursday, Sept. 22.

Myhr had 2,632 votes, or 55.24 percent of the vote. That compares to Stephens' 2,109 votes or 44.26 percent.

Myhr carried San Juan and Lopez islands by wide margins. He out-polled Stephens 1,156 - 864 on San Juan, and 677 - 470 on Lopez.

Stephens led Myhr by four votes, 689-685, on Orcas.

Myhr, who will represent District #3 (Lopez), is expected to be appointed to the position this week by Commissioners Kevin Ranker and Alan Lichter.

He will face Green Party candidate Steve Ludwig in the general election and, quite possibly, a Republican candidate. Republicans cast 267 write-ins in their September primary. If the winner got 40 votes or more, he or she will be on the ballot in November, elections official Dan Gillespie said. The write-ins are expected to be opened and evaluated by Monday.
