A second Town Hall for Orcas Island will take place Wednesday, April 6, at 5 p.m. in the Eastsound Fire Hall.

Commissioner Alan Lichter invites all Orcas islanders to attend the meeting and, he says, "to help explore what it can mean to live in a healthy community."

The first Town Hall, held in mid-February, was standing room only, and gave citizens an opportunity to speak on such issues as affordable housing, the economy, managing growth, the environment, health care, county government, youth and drugs, social services, etc.

There will be further exploration of these issues at the April 6 meeting through citizen input. Organizations and non-profits on Orcas Island will talk about their on-going activities.

"The Town Hall will also look at ways to coordinate the many diverse island agendas, and move towards taking action for building the kind of community we want to live in —- a healthy community that serves the needs of all its citizens," Lichter said.

Once again, the Town Hall will be sponsored and facilitated by NOF (Navigating Our Future), which will also provide refreshments and child care.
