June 17, 2008 · Updated 4:39 PM
Three fabulous wedding packages top the list of giveaways at the First Orcas Island Wedding Fair, sponsored by the Orcas Island Chamber of Commerce, and scheduled to take place this Saturday and Sunday, March 5-6.
The grand prize is a complete wedding package worth over $4,000. It consists of a ceremony aboard the 56-foot Orcas Express for up to 20 guests. Because the Wedding Fair will take place March 5 and 6, registration for the prize must have already been completed on-line at http://www.orcasisland.org.
Two other unique island wedding packages will be awarded during the year.
The Orcas Island Wedding Fair includes a trade show at Rosario Resort where 50 Orcas Island providers will display their wide range of wedding-related services Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., all under one roof. A bridal salon will also be on display in Rosarios Music Room.
An island-wide Open House follows from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. This will be when attendees get to tour Orcas Island and visit participating lodging, ceremony and reception sites.
This will be followed by a wine tasting presented by Mt. Baker Vineyards, and culinary offerings provided by various restaurateurs and catering companies from the San Juan Islands. The food and wine tasting will take place at the Odd Fellows Hall in Eastsound from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
The trade show and bridal salon will resume Sunday at Rosario from 9:30 a.m. until noon.
Wedding services, natural beauty, hospitality, food and drink await. Discover that Orcas and the San Juan Islands are THE Wedding Destination.
