Local election results

Below are the results of the local election, Tuesday, Nov. 2. They include absentee ballots counted by the San Juan County Elections Department through Friday, Nov. 5.
San Juan County Commissioner, District 1: Kevin Ranker was elected with 4,351 votes, compared to Ray Biglers 3,206 and Ben Whites 883.
San Juan County Commissioner, District 2: Alan Lichter defeated John Evans, 4,815 to 3,609.
The Orcas School Bond passed, with 1,913 voting yes, and 836 voting no.
Lopez Fire Department Levy Lift also passed, 779-436.
San Juan County Guesthouse Construction Advisory Ballot was approved 6,296 - 2,279. But this was purely advisory, and doesnt require county commissioners to maintain or change existing laws.
Seven freeholders representing Orcas Island were elected, and with the following vote totals: Gene Knapp, 1,876; Linda Tretheway, 1,498; Richard Fralick, 1,479; Walt Corbin, 1,394; Mindy Kayl, 1, 364; Ryan Drum, 1,271; and Jeffrey Bossler, 1,191. Missing out were Tim White, with 1,151 votes; Steve Henigson, with 1,052; and Ed LeCocq, with 595. The seven will be joined by 10 from San Juan Island and four representing Lopez-Shaw.
Approximately 200 ballots remain to be counted, according to the elections department.
