Tony Ghazel has been appointed to the Orcas Island School Board. Ghazel was unanimously named by board members at a special meeting on Aug. 18. He will fill the slot vacated when Bill Wulff resigned from the board last spring. The position will be up for election in November 2005.

Ghazel has a computer consulting business. He has been active in the community, and most recently served as president of the Orcas Island Lions Club.

He told The Sounder that he agreed to seek the position because he likes to be involved in the community and, he said, “to see if I can make a difference.”

Ghazel will take his seat on the board beginning with the meeting Wednesday, Aug. 25, at 5:30 p.m. in the school library.
