Betty Whitridge dies
June 17, 2008 · Updated 4:06 PM
Long-time popular Orcas islander Betty Whitridge collapsed and died early Sunday evening, April 11, at her home in Deer Harbor. She was 82.
Orcas Island Emergency Medical Services were quickly dispatched to the scene, but despite their hard work and dedication, they were unable to revive her.
Betty Whitridge was very popular and had many friends on Orcas Island. She won praise for the delightful performances she gave in several Orcas Center plays, and was known for her quick wit, intelligence, and great sense of style.
A memorial service for Betty Whitridge will take place next Monday, April 19, at 3 p.m. at Emmanuel Episcopal Church.
In lieu of flowers, her husband Fred Whitridge asks that memorials be made to the Orcas Island Medical Center Association and/or Childrens House preschool.
A full obituary will appear in the April 28 Edition of the Islands' Sounder.
