Orcas students gathered in front of the elementary school May 14 to cheer the three Destination Imagination teams’ and their coaches as they made last minute preparations for their trip to the Global Finals in Knoxville, Tenn. For David Lowry, father of middle school DI team member Teresa Lowry, the trip began that day, when he began a five-day drive carrying the team’s props. Before he left, however, the students covered his van with signs wishing the kids good fortune. The students and their coaches flew to Knoxville Monday. The competition takes place Wednesday through Saturday, May 21-24.
