All three island voters approved their school districts’ maintenance and operations levies and by wide margins.

The votes as of Tuesday night, March 12, were as follows:

Orcas: 1382 (74 percent) yes, 497 no (26 percent)

Lopez: 710 yes (71 percent) 265 no (29 percent)

San Juan: 1933 yes (76 percent) 621 no (24 percent)

School levies need a 60 percent “yes” vote for approval.

Some late arriving election returns still must be counted by the San Juan County Elections Department, but they won’t change the results.
