23rd annual American Legion Salmon Derby was biggest ever

The 23rd annual Salmon Derby sponsored by American Legion Post 93, Orcas Island, Feb. 16-17 was the biggest derby ever, with 145 entries. A total of 101 salmon were taken ( 71 on Feb 16, and 30 on Feb. 17). Nine fish were over 19 pounds each. See Results below for winners.

Door prizes were provided by the following local businesses: Island Hardware & Supply, Island Market, Island Chain Saw, Crescent Service, Orcas Home Central - Ace, Orcas Home Grown Market, Vern’s Bayside Restaurant, Village Stop, Melissa’s Salon, San Juan Sanitation, Islanders Bank, Christina’s, Waterfront Gallery, Eastsound Sporting Goods, Orcas Gun Club, Sea Island Sand & Gravel, Winsor Interiors, Eastsound Exxon, Radio Shack and Suzy’s Barber Shop.
