The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office and Undersheriff Bruce Distler invite the public to an open meeting at the Orcas Senior Center between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 26.
The meeting will be an open forum focused on island safety. Possible topics for discussion include bicycle safety, pedestrian safety, traffic safety, and gun safety. Island deputies may be available to meet and greet as their duties allow.
Additional topics for discussion may include local law enforcement; free gun locks; gun safety classes.
Snacks and refreshments will be provided and all are welcome to bring their concerns, ideas and plans for working with local protection and enforcement officers.
This is the first of monthly meetings (except summer months) sponsored by the Sheriff’s Office. These meetings arise from the work of the “Orcas Response to Newtown” Consensus Group.
