MSNBC recently featured the San Juan Islands in a slide show of the most stunningly beautiful places in America.

An aerial sunset image of the San Juan Islands was chosen by editors for the group of only ten images to represent a new book called, "America the Beautiful: 100 Places to See in Your Lifetime."

The San Juan Islands appear in number 10 on the slide show, along with beauties like Canyonlands, Utah; the Great Serpent Mound in Ohio; and the Cloisters museum in New York City.
