'Senior Farm-to-Table' dinners come to Orcas Senior Center
July 16, 2008 · 1:31 PM
The Senior Center announces “Senior Farm-to-Table” dinners on the third Wednesday of each month, beginning today, July 16.
The dinners are the idea of Mindy Kayl, a substitute cook at the Center, and built on the successful school “Farm to Cafeteria” program.”The idea is to keep it simple, with salad, soup and maybe a stir-fry,” said Jane Heisinger, Senior Center Advisory Committee Assistant. Dessert will always be a fruit crisp.
The meals will feature local produce.
The Senior Farm-to-Table dinner begins at 5 p.m. Cost is $5 for Seniors and $7 for those under 60.
