What’s happening at the senior center

How do You Want to be Remembered?

Everyone is welcome to join for a class about how to write an obituary hosted by Diane Craig at the Orcas Senior Center on Monday, June 3 at 1 p.m. Pre-writing your obituary will allow you to create the story you want everyone to know for generations to come and will ease stress for loved ones after a loss.

Craig is a reporter and office manager at The Islands’ Sounder. She will teach how to capture our thoughts in the right way. Craig has many examples of obituaries from her experience as an associate for the Tampa Bay Times in Florida.

Shake Hands with Shakespeare

Hear ye, Hear ye! All are invited to listen to the Orcas Island Shakespeare Society read the plays and poems of Shakespeare, watch Shakespeare-based films on the new large screen TV and discuss with like-minded people. Because of its insights into aging well, they are considering King Lear for a first read. An informational meeting will take place on June 5 at 2 p.m. at the Orcas Senior Center. If you cannot attend, send your ideas for future meetings to seniorcenterprograms@gmail.com or call Vicki O’Keefe at 360-376-7723.
