Trillium Swanson, LMHCA, a youth and adult counselor on Orcas, shares tools and the science behind how parents can reduce conflict with their children through understanding the brain under stress. She will explore specific steps parents can take to track and manage their own emotional-stress responses when in conflict, and how to interpret the often puzzling reactions of teens, to reduce unnecessary fighting at home. All parents of elementary-age children and adolescents are welcome; the workshop will highlight similarities and critical differences in approaching conflict with both age groups. This workshop is based in the research and writing of Dr. Dan Siegel, as well as other current science-writing on adolescent development.
Thursday, Sept. 28, from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Funhouse Commons. Contact Emilie at firstname.lastname@example.org or (360) 376-7177 to register for this free workshop.
