The Orcas Food Co-op Community Hero Program selects organizations each month based on their service to the community.

The three schools chosen to share the month of August are Kaleidoscope, providing Orcas families with safe and affordable high-quality preschool and childcare for children ages 4 weeks to 12 years; Montessori, offering a wealth of hands-on activities in keeping with each child’s needs and abilities under the observation of a trained guid; and Salmonberry, nurturing the imaginative and intellectual capabilities of children with a Holistic Educational pathway for Kindergarten thru sixth grade.

The three ways to support these schools during the month of August are by rounding up your purchases with Register Round-up; bringing your own bag and choosing who to donate your wooden nickel to with Coins for Community; and by shopping on Thursday Aug. 15th for 3% Thursday in which the Co-op will donate 3% of the daily Gross receipts.
