Submitted by Orcas Center.

Take flight and explore cultural treasures of the world through taste, touch and sound at Orcas Center’s 2019 “See The World” Gala and auction, where you will have the opportunity to support the work of the center and its commitment to maintaining the best performing arts and community center possible. The gala, which is the organization’s biggest annual fundraising event, will be held at Orcas Center (917 Mt. Baker Rd.) on Saturday, May 18 at 5 pm.

Pick up your passport, pose for your passport photo and have the opportunity to sample signature cocktails and worldly hors d’oeuvres as you peruse themed silent auction baskets that are filled with gifts from many local businesses, including: Con’s Pit Stop, Deer Harbor Charters, Deer Harbor Inn, Driftwood Nursery, Island Pie, Hogstone’s Wood Oven, Island Pie, Island Market, North Shore Charters, Orcas Video, Ray’s Drug Store, Rose’s Cafe, Shearwater Adventures, The Barnacle, Thornber Bowls. Amazing wines will also be available in the silent auction. At 6:30 p.m., The Rock on the Rock Choir and Island Aerial Acrobatics will deliver a powerful preview of Cirque-Us featuring music from the soundtrack of “The Greatest Showman.”

Mary Russell and Ron Redman of Orcas Village Store will then cater a plated dinner that will include a variety of entree options. The various courses will be paired with selected wines and will be followed by the lively dessert dash with cakes and pies that are specialties from many countries. The live auction will include a matching gift for replacing seats in the main theatre and will be highlighted by a Seattle date night that includes a roundtrip from Orcas to Seattle on Kenmore Air, lodging at the Hyatt, dinner at Nordstrom and a performance at Benaroya Hall.

“The Board of Trustees and staff have been working hard to create this fantastic event,” Corinne Davis said, who is the 2019 Gala Chair. “We invite the community to join us in raising money to ensure a bright future for Orcas Center. We are grateful to the event sponsorship of Cavallini & Co. Because of their generous donation Orcas Center can encourage participation in the arts through advocacy, education and outreach for years to come.”
