Perrine and McCune are back with ‘CIRCUS!’

Celebrating their triumphant return to the Orcas Center stage, Grace McCune and Jake Perrine, the makers of such merry mayhem as “Moulin Rouge,” “Across The Universe,” “On This Island,” “Rock of Orcas,” “Teatro Titikookoo” and “This Is Me” bring you: “CIRCUS!” featuring the music of The Greatest Showman. Show dates are between May 23-June 8.

To sign up, come to the first rehearsal on Thursday, Jan. 31, for adults; Thursday, Feb. 7 for both kids’ choirs. Participation in “CIRCUS!” will consist of its tried-and-true format of “tuition-based fun-for-all.” Three separate choirs led by McCune will meet on Thursdays starting Jan. 31 for the adult choir and Feb. 7 for the kids choirs. Classes will be held in the Madrona Room at Orcas Center: Kids choir: ages 5-9, 3:30-4 p.m.; Tween choir: ages 10-15, 4-5 p.m.; Adult choir: ages 15 and up, 5:30-7:30 p.m.

There are no auditions to participate in the show: all skill levels are welcomed. They will be holding auditions from within the choirs for those interested in being a soloist. Please prepare a verse and chorus of one of the songs from “The Greatest Showman” if you would like to be considered for a solo. These internal auditions will take place on Thursday, Feb. 7, for the adults only.

Rehearsals are a “fun and supportive environment for all,” say organizers, and will meet on Thursdays. They do not rehearse the weeks of school vacations. In April and May, we will add more regular rehearsals as they get ready for the show.

To register, show up on the day and time of the first rehearsal. The cost is $120 for the adult or tween choirs or $80 for the kid’s choir. Work trade scholarships will be available. The aerial acrobatics portion of the show will consist of Island Aerial Acrobatics classes already in session. Questions? Interested in sponsoring the show? Building sets? Helping with costumes?
