Orcatrazz Swing Band to perform at Emmanuel

Come swing with Band leader Ken Speck and the Orcatrazz Swing Band on Wednesday, Aug. 7, at noon in the Emmanuel Episcopal Church.

“The name Orcatrazz came about because like Alcratraz we are sort of trapped on the island…Orcas Island, only we love it” says the band. The group plays music from several genres including the swing band era of the 1940s. The band members have varied experiences ranging from amateur to professional including students, music teachers, and studio musicians. Most of all they have serious fun and enjoy making music together.

The playlist will include some old favorites, “Stardust,” “Sentimental Journey,” “String of Pearls,” and several more from the great swing bands.

The concerts are free, however the Music Committee appreciates donations to fund the Virgil Cleveland Memorial Scholarship program that sends several Orcas music students to summer music camps.
