Orcas Island High School alumnus Jake C. Zier graduated June 10 from University of Washington with a degree in political science/international security and an All PAC-12 Academic Honorable mention with a GPA of 3.26.

Due to an extensive rowing career at UW, Zier has a couple summer classes to wrap up his scholastic requirements. As a Husky, Zier was a three-time Intercollegiate Rowing Association National Champion and three-time PAC-12 Champion, Windermere Cup Champion plus a head of the Charles and Royal Henley Champion. He finished is senior year undefeated in the varsity and 2nd varsity crew. After summer classes, Zier will focus on graduate school or start a career.
