OPALCO members invited to annual meeting

Annual OPALCO meeting schedule

Submitted by Orcas Power and Light Cooperative.

Anyone paying a power bill to Orcas Power and Light Cooperative is a member of the co-op, and this fun-filled annual meeting is all about the members. OPALCO holds its annual meeting on the inter-island ferry to make it easy for everyone to come aboard.

Lunch will be served at each of the ferry landings, and prizes handed out during the short cruise around the inter-island route. The main event is a member Q & A session, following a brief “state of the co-op” address. Election results will be announced.

The theme of this year’s meeting is “Safety,” and we’ll be celebrating National Lineworker Appreciation Day with cupcakes and a chance to meet some of OPALCO’s lineworkers.

OPALCO’s partners will be onboard with information and giveaways including San Juan Islands Conservation District; BPA; Rock Island Communications; and T-Mobile. Show up at the ferry landing on Saturday morning, April 13 and register for the meeting. No reservations required. The travel schedule is:

San Juan Island: Register by 7 a.m. Ferry leaves at 8:30 a.m. Return to Friday Harbor at 11:15 a.m.

Orcas Island: Register at 7:30 a.m. Ferry leaves at 9:15 a.m. Return to Orcas at 12:40 p.m.

Shaw Island: Register on ferry. Ferry leaves at 9:30 a.m. Return to Shaw at 12:20 p.m.

Lopez Island: Register at 8:45 a.m. Ferry leaves at 9:55 a.m. Return to Lopez at 1 p.m.

OPALCO is required by the Rural Utilities Services to hold an annual meeting each year. Members who missed the meeting can read the 2018 Annual Report online at opalco.com. A limited number of printed copies are available at your local OPALCO office, as long as supplies lasts.
