Orcas artists Ranna McNeil and Robert Dash are excited to share their work at Orcas Center during the month of October. McNeil and Dash are award-winning artists with work shown internationally (and locally at Artworks). Their show ‘Nature and Psyche’ explores their fascination with nature and the human spirit.

McNeil’s work features many new cast glass vessels, sculptures and paintings. She uses the lost wax casting technique with lead crystal and paints in a variety of media. She explains, “Embodied experiences of the natural world and dreamwork are the basis for my art. I express the numinous and ethereal qualities of human experiences through the subtle changes of light transmission available with glass.”

Dash will show several new photo montages stemming from his book, On An Acre Shy of Eternity, and his Orcas TEDx talk. These images, from a new series entitled “Micro-Climate Change”, feature a surreal conversation between life-sized plants and microscopic parts of themselves, blending art, science and psychology.

The show will be hung on October 4th, but due to scheduling conflicts the reception at Orcas Center will be Thursday, Oct. 11, 5:30–7 p.m. Both artists will talk about their work at 6 p.m. Everyone is welcome; please bring your friends.
