OCS kids enjoy the outdoors

Miss Angie’s first- through third-grade primary class at Orcas Christian School had the opportunity of rounding out the month of May with a day trip to Sucia Island. It’s an annual OCS tradition to visit a nearby island as one of its many field trips throughout the year. The boat ride with Outer Island Expeditions began on calm waters and under blanketed skies. After a time of exploring Fossil Bay and the mushroom rock in Fox Cove, the class journeyed under the forest cover toward Shallow Bay. Upon reaching the stunning peninsula jutting out at the southern curvature of the bay, the kids had a heyday exploring hidden caves and glittering tide pools. Before the school year concludes on June 8, the first- through sixth-grades will have biked the serene roads of Shaw Island for their end-of-the-year trip.
