New executive director

Sara Boyle is the new executive director for the Orcas Senior Center, the Orcas District of the Senior Services of San Juan County.

Boyle started at the center in May as the communication and fundraising administrator and says she is excited to take on this new role in further support of the OSC and the Orcas community. They are also hiring for a part time administrative assistant position. Free Miró Quartet concert for seniors

Orcas Island seniors are in for a musical treat courtesy of the Orcas Island Chamber Music Festival. On Tuesday, Oct. 10, the Miró Quartet will entertain Orcas seniors with a short concert at the senior center at 2 p.m. The concert is free to all Orcas seniors, and will be followed by a reception with treats, coffee and tea. The string quartet spends an action-packed week in the San Juan Islands Oct. 9 – 13, entertaining and enlightening people of all ages. The group consists of violinists Daniel Ching and William Fedkenheuer, violist John Largess, and cellist Joshua Gindele.
