Local teen horse-rider wins prestigious state award

Emma Freedman, Orcas Island resident and daughter of Andria Hagstrom and Paul Freedman, won the 2016 Tom Bassett Junior Exhibitor Western/English Over All Award for high point performance age 17 and under.

This prestigious regional award was granted by the Washington State Horsemen after Freedman’s eight high points earned at horse shows in the Northwest Border Zone of Whatcom, Skagit, San Juan and Island Counties. Freedman and her horse All Socked Up “Riley” train with Alicia Miller.

Freedman attends Spring Street International School and is a member of the Orcas 4-H Trailblazers Horse Club.
