Island Market hunger program a success

by the Orcas Island Food Bank Board

If you were one of the 314 people who paid $10 for a full bag of groceries to be given to the Orcas Island Food Bank during the holidays, you helped Island Market deliver a total of 2,453 pounds – almost $5,000 worth of food items to the Food Bank!

“Island Market was amazing to work with,” says Susan McBain, Vice President of the Orcas Island Food Bank Board. “Within a couple of days, Jacob had everything organized and ready to sell and advertise.”

The market hopes to begin a little earlier next year and have the promotion expand over November and December.

“The hunger bag program is such a great way to bring our community together to help ensure our food bank can effectively support our island,” says Jacobs Linnes of Island Market. “Our goal for next year is to do $10,000 worth of food, and with your help, we will make it.”

Island Market has been a steadfast partner with the Orcas Island Food Bank for many years and we are always grateful for the support they provide all year long.
