Healing Arts Center to offer raffle and fair

The Healing Arts Center announces a fundraising raffle. The nonprofit, whose historic downtown Eastsound location is home to the alternative health practices of fifteen practitioners, will be conducting a raffle between Nov. 11 and Dec. 12, offering books of three raffle tickets for a $10 donation.

At the Dec. 12 drawing, winners will be chosen, and each can choose from a slate of available appointments which include massage, acupuncture, herbal consultation, empathy coaching, and counseling. Winners can use their prizes for themselves, as holiday gifts (certificates provided), or donate their prize to a local charity. Raffle tickets are available at the Healing Arts Center, 453 North Beach Rd., where the front desk hours are 9 to 3 weekdays. Tickets are also available from any practitioner, or look for raffle tables at various venues and events throughout this coming month. Proceeds will go into the fund for replacement of the building’s foundation.

The Healing Arts Center offers their biannual Healing Arts Fair this weekend (Nov. 12-13) and a few appointments are still available, including ½-hour acupuncture sessions and possibly a few one-hour massages or a craniosacral session. Kristy Bredin, the herbalist who is the newest member of the Healing Arts Center, will offer unique informative small-group sessions, where she presents information on the benefits of healing through the skin, and how to replicate her treatment at home, while the participants receive a half-hour foot soak with local seaweeds. Seaweed spa treatments (thalasso therapy) derive from cultural heritages as diverse as the Japanese, Native American, and Irish.

All sessions are donated by the practitioners and fair proceeds support the nonprofit to maintain the building. To sign up, or for raffle information, you may phone 376-4002.
