For the second year in a row Orcas Recycling Services/The Exchange is sponsoring a fall litter pickup event: The 2017 Fall Great Islands Cleanup!

Volunteers are encouraged to meet ORS board and staff at the Village Green in Eastsound on Saturday, Sept. 30 at 10 a.m. You will be assigned a stretch of public road or public beach that needs work and be given all the garbage bags, latex gloves, and road safety equipment you need will need.

If you prefer to clean up a road or beach in your own neck of the woods, bring your trash to the Village Green by 2 p.m. for free disposal, thanks to San Juan Sanitation and San Juan County Public Works.

There will be prizes for kids, and prizes for adults in the form of drink tickets for the brewery. Join volunteers and organizers for the Cleanup Report at Island Hoppin’ Brewery at 4 p.m. after the clean-up.

If you want to be a volunteer organizer (we’re looking at you local businesses!), team leader, or register a crew in advance, please send an email to duff@exchangeorcas.org or call 376-4089 to register. Not on Orcas? Lopez, Shaw and San Juan Islands have cleanup events happening the same day.
