Four One World performers travel to Finland

Four young musicians who performed at Martin Lund’s One World concert at the Orcas Center in mid-June departed on June 23 with the North Stars Chamber Orchestra for a 12-day concert tour in Finland, the homeland of composer Jean Sibelius.

Orcas Islanders, pianist Lisa Carter and violinists Paris Wilson and Emy Carter as well as Mt. Vernon’s Tate Cohan – pianist, oboist and vocalist – are part of a 20-person youth ensemble from the Bellingham-to-Seattle area, led by Sharyn Peterson of the Peterson Conservatory of Music and Arts in Mt. Vernon. Peterson also leads the Mt. Baker and Fidalgo Youth Symphonies.

The Carters have just completed their sophomore year at Biola University in La Mirada, California. Wilson just completed her sophomore year at Orcas Island High School, and Tate Cohan graduated Mt. Vernon High School this spring.
