Brown Bag Concert presents the Tow Away Zone

The Music Committee will present the Tow Away Zone with Carl Berger, Marj Franke and Tish Knapp at noon on Wednesday, July 31.

The band says: “The three of us are delighted to be back in the lineup, as Emmanuel Episcopal Church hosts its 2019 season! We three experiment with a wide variety of musical approaches: traditional with off-the-wall, editorializing with nostalgia, slapstick with serenity. This is gonna be fun! Set the bar low, relax, find a comfortable pew, and thank you for joining us this Orcas Island afternoon!”

Berger is a state park ranger-turned innkeeper and has lived on Obstruction Pass with his wife Sandy since 1992. He began playing guitar and banjo in 1962, hitting his peak around 1963. Franke calls herself “a newcomer wth deep roots.” She and her husband moved here in 2009. She is an artist, a masseuse and she’s ready to sing anything, anytime, anywhere. Knapp, her family and farm menagerie have been on Orcas Island for more than 40 years. She taught literature and creative writing at Orcas High School and enjoys long philosophical conversations and singing close harmony.

The committee welcomes donations to fund the Virgil Cleveland Memorial Scholarship program.
