Auditions for ‘The Addams Family’ and ‘Whale of a Show’

Orcas Center has chosen “The Addams Family – The Musical” as the fall show leading the 2017-2018 season. This weird and wonderful family comes to devilishly delightful life on the Orcas Center’s main stage opening Oct. 26 and closing Oct. 31. The musical will run for six performances.

Guest director and choreographer Samuel J. Pettit from Seattle is coming to Orcas to oversee the show. Pettit has worked as choreographer and director on “Legally Blond,” “Oliver,” “Pirates of Penzance,” “Anything Goes,” “Peter Pan,” “Pippi Longstocking,” “Annie,” “Little Shop of Horrors,” “Seussical,” “The Addams Family” and others. Currently, he is Associate Artistic Director of Studio East Theatre and has been teaching theatre for 13 years and is the co-founder of “Origami Girl Productions,” voted “Best of Fest” at the Seattle Fringe Festival.

Auditions are Aug. 29 and 30 at 6 p.m. on Center Stage. Pettit would like anyone auditioning to bring about 16 bars of music (about a minute of singing). It can be on CD, or by piano and accompanist, or acapella if you so choose. Also, Pettit would like to see some prepared acting material such as a short speech or poem. A sign-up sheet for auditions will be posted at the front door of the Orcas Center. Everyone is welcome; auditions are open to all. Call backs will be held Aug. 30 from 6-9 p.m. From 6-7 p.m., Pettit will work with the choreography and from 7-9 p.m., he will work with the actors reading sides from the play.
