Architect Walker releases book on his career

Gordon Walker will present a book signing at Darvill’s on Thursday, Aug. 1, from 6-7:30 p.m.

Walker, an Orcas resident, will be signing the book authored by Grant Hildebrand, on Walker’s architectural career in the Pacific Northwest.

“Gordon Walker: A Poetic Architecture” tells the personal and professional story of a unique figure in architecture. Walker’s designs span the West Coast and as an educator and mentor his reach extends further still. Walker has, for half a century, created an architecture of exceptional merit.

It’s more biographical than an architectural coffee table book. It’s the story of a young boy in Idaho who attended a one room school and knew at the age of 7 that he wanted to design and build. Walker went on to a 40-year career that included residential, corporate, university master planning and mentoring of young architects.
