Almost Classical at Darvill’s

The Orcas Island trio Almost Classical will be appearing at Darvill’s Bookstore in Eastsound on Thursday, Dec. 22 from 3 to 4:30 p.m.

The trio includes Lisa Carter on piano and Celtic harp, and Emy Carter and Paris Wilson on violin. They will play holiday favorites from their Christmas CD, “Almost Classical Christmas,” which they released last year, and possibly some new tunes as well.

Recently Biola University in Los Angeles selected the Almost Classical Christmas CD as a gift for their President’s Circle members and purchased 400 CDs. The CD is available now at Darvill’s, and the trio will sign copies in the store on Dec. 22.

Almost Classical has performed at the Evergreen State Fair, San Juan County Fair, Orcas Island’s summer Music in the Park series, Martin Lund’s One World concerts and other events on Orcas Island and the mainland. Each musician is classically trained on her instrument, and the trio excels at creating their own arrangements of popular music.

Lisa and Emy are currently students at the Conservatory of Music at Biola University in Los Angeles. Paris is a sophomore at Orcas Island High School. Recently, Paris was selected to be part of an international honors orchestra performing at Carnegie Hall in February 2017 and the Sydney Opera House in Australia in July.
