We certainly support the passage and implementation of the public hospital district for Orcas Island. Unfortunately, as nonresidents of the county, we cannot vote for the district. But we have been Orcas Island property owners for over 35 years and spend many happy weeks throughout the year here on the Island. We certainly can write checks as charitable contributions to the District. But with the District and an approved tax base, we will be providing dependable financial support for services that we all need.

Given the percentage of nonresident owners of property on Orcas, this provides a needed service for this entire nonresident population who is getting older and probably spend increasing time on Orcas.
