I consider it a privilege to endorse Michael Durland for County Council.
The Orcas Public Library is one of the most important places for our community
Michael Durland has amazing analytical skills that are applied to getting work done just right.
It's not possible to know how someone new to elected office will perform.
Who do county employees support in the election for county council? Bill Watson for seat one (and Rick Hughes for seat two).
I am very grateful to Bob Jarman for all he has done and continues to do for our county.
Bob Jarman is the obvious choice for County Council District 1.
Bill Watson has my vote for County Council District no. 1 – and I'll tell you why.
Please join us in voting "YES" on I-732 in November.

Thank you to everyone who attended Seniors Have Talent on Nov. 7. We had a full house!
Just wanted to say that I thought your editorial about the teacher and student was right on (“When a teacher crosses the line,” 11/4/15). You outlined the issues very clearly and mentioned other opinions that are irrelevant. Nicely done.

The one article, credited to three high school seniors of The Viking Voice, was tempered with compassion and respect for all those involved in the situation. It calls for restraint from judgement and blame, as well as calls for the use of right speech in discussing the situation in our community.
I was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Roger Congdon. I first met Roger about 25 years ago, when I joined the American Legion Post #93.
It is a real treat to work with our very own start-up internet/phone company. We now have high speed internet at our home. No more spinning wheels, and streaming doesn’t stop. Who would have thought it possible?
The Fosters would like to thank the community of Orcas Island for the renovation of our bathroom to accommodate Luanne’s wheelchair.
I’ve already voted for Wes Heinmiller for Orcas Island Fire Commissioner and I’m encouraging you to do just the same. In fact, our whole family has voted, signed, sealed, and delivered the ballots to the elections office several days ago.
Please join me in voting for Deborah Jones for Orcas Island Park and Recreation District Commissioner.
I strongly endorse Wesley (Wes) Heinmiller for San Juan County Fire District #2 Commissioner.

As the race for District 2 fire commissioner heads into its final weeks, the difference in perspective between candidates Wes Heinmiller and Julie Remington appears in bold relief in the voter’s pamphlet.
I am endorsing Julie Remington for the Fire Commissioner’s position in the upcoming election.
I met Julie Remington 10 years ago at the Orcas Island Fire Department where she had been a volunteer for some time.
On Oct. 19, the Skagit Habitat for Humanity Store truck made what is probably its final visit to Orcas Island.
The end of summer marks the end of a busy fundraising season for the Orcas Island Lions Club.
I recently attended a meeting of the owners of North West Connoisseurs, a local 502 licensed marijuana grow-op, and concerned business owners in the area of Mt. Baker Road and Hope Lane, where the new facility would be located.
Scientific research is the most powerful tool we have against disease.
I’m voting for Wes Heinmiller for the position of Orcas Island Fire Commissioner because he is a terrific fit for the position.
