OFHC to stay open; donations still needed | Letters

Last month, Orcas Family Health Center began a fundraising campaign to raise $175,000 by November 27, 2017 so we can keep our doors open.

The reason for the campaign was because of an overpayment by a state insurance company which had to be repaid through monthly installments which subsequently cut into our monthly operating budget.

Through the generosity of our island patients and friends, Orcas Family Health Center raised $99,536.00 by our deadline. With the monies raised thus far, we will be able to eliminate the debt to the insurance company but are still left with a deficit in the operating budget by the $75,000 balance.

The OFHC Board and Dr. David Shinstrom are pleased to announce that we will remain open in 2018 if the funds continue to come in at the current pace.

We are extending our fundraising deadline to Jan. 8, 2018.

If you were one of the donors who said you could give more by year’s end we urge you now to reach deeply. If you were one of the businesses who said you’d like to donate a week’s income/sale proceeds, now is the time.

Dr. Shinstrom, staff and the OFHC Board is encouraged we can reach the remainder of our goal. $75,000 is attainable with your help. Please make checks payable to Orcas Family Health Center, P.O. Box 1055, Eastsound, WA 98245 or you may visit our website at orcasfamilyhealthcenter.org and click on the donate link. All contributions are 100 percent tax deductible.
