Because of my interest in supporting the Port and our community, I decided to become a candidate for the Port of Orcas Commissioner no. 2 position. I was under the impression that Dwight Guss was not going to run for reelection as he had not filed the necessary paperwork. By the time Dwight ultimately filed with the county, I was unable to withdraw my candidacy due to Washington state law. Therefore, my name remains on the ballot. Given this unique situation, and that it was not my intent to run against Dwight, I put my support behind Dwight Guss’ candidacy. I am sorry for any confusion this might have caused the community due to a technicality in state election law.
