Carolyn Cruso releases new CD
October 16, 2009 · 5:16 PM
The last offering in the Spotlight in the OffCenter series will celebrate the release of Carolyn Cruso’s latest CD "Have You Ever."
"Have You Ever" exhibits Cruso's smooth vocals and instinct for rich instrumentals.
"'Have You Ever' is very much a product of the Orcas musical community. Other local musicians contributing to the CD are Bruce Harvie, Esther Olson, Isaac Olson and Jim Bredouw," organizer Barbara Courtney said.
Cruso will share an evening of original songs on Saturday, Oct. 24 at 7:30 p.m. at Orcas Center.
Joining Cruso will be Orcas musicians Martin Lund, Becki Klauss, Lek Thixton, and Willie Thomas as well as Jon Hamar on acoustic and electric bass, and TJ Morris on drums and percussion.
Earlier in 2009, the Spotlight in the OffCenter series featured Baby Gramps and Eric Apoe, Alice DiMicele, and Jim Page. These singer-songwriters were selected by Cruso and performed on Orcas Center’s OffCenter Stage. Each provided stories that covered a range of poetic expression including social and political themes, romantic love, and sense of place.
"Cruso’s concert will be the perfect finish to this celebration of Northwest singer-songwriter talent," Courtney said.
Seating in the OffCenter Stage is limited to 60. Patrons are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance. Tickets are $12.
