Gypsy Django Jazz
July 28, 2008 · Updated 11:11 PM
The Lopez School Music Advocacy Foundation is bringing Pearl Django back to Lopez on Saturday, Aug. 2 for a Gypsy Django Jazz Concert at 2 p.m. at the Outdoor Pavilion. This concert features a five-piece hot swing jazz program.
Transcending simple categorization, Pearl Django packs in enthusiastic audiences at dancehalls and nightclubs, at folk music festivals and jazz festivals alike, according to the Lopez School Music Advocacy.
This will be the band’s third visit to Lopez. Their appreciative audiences last summer made it possible for the foundation to bring the musicians back for a performance in December that included an all-day student workshop at Lopez School.
Tickets are available in advance from the Community Center office, Paper Scissors on the Rock, Blossoms Organic Grocery, Islehaven Books, Islandale Southender and online at www.LopezCenter.com, for $15 for adults. Youth will be admitted free of charge. The concert is sponsored by the Lopez Center for Community and the Arts.
