Don't miss the summer encore screening of The Met’s presentation of Puccini’s “Turandot” at Orcas Center, Friday, Aug. 30 at 7:30 p.m.

Franco Zeffirelli’s glittering production of Puccini’s last opera “Turandot,” described by The New York Times as “the Met at its best,” stars Maria Guleghina as Turandot, Marina Poplavskaya as Liù, Marcello Giordani as Calàf, and Samuel Ramey as Timur. Andris Nelsons conducts.  One of the enigmas of Puccini’s “Turandot” is why anyone would seek to marry a man-hating princess with a track record of decapitating her suitors. But the unattainable beauty proves irresistible, luring dozens of admirers to their deaths.

Tickets are $18, $13 students, and $2 off for Orcas Center members, and may be purchased at www.orcascenter.org or by calling 376-2281 ext. 1 or visiting the box office open Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from noon to 4 p.m.
