Dog licenses required annually
November 30, 2009 · 12:52 PM
2010 dog licenses are now available at the Orcas Animal Shelter daily from 2 to 5 p.m.
San Juan County requires all dog owners to license their dogs annually. Licenses are also available at Pawki’s, Eastsound Kennels and Orcas Veterinary Services.
Dog license fees are $30 for intact dogs and $12 if the dog is spayed or neutered. If the dog is microchipped, bring the chip number.
Rabies tags, which are issued for a three-year period by a veterinarian, are often confused with dog license tags. However, rabies tags do not meet the county’s licensing requirements. Licenses must be purchased before March 31 to avoid a penalty.
For a $5 fee, San Juan County can also add a digital photo of your dog to the license database to assist with identification if your pet is lost and found.
