ORCAS

Friday, June 5

Art opening: “Soul of the Eagle and Tree,” exhibit of color photography by Louellen McCoy and carved wooden eagles by Rocky McInnis. Main Gallery, Orcas Center. Reception from 5:30 p.m. To 7:30 p.m. Show runs through June 30.

Art auction fundraiser: The Funhouse is hosting a silent art auction at the Living Room in Eastsound. The event will be held over the course of two days, beginning with a reception on Friday, June 5 from 5 to 8 p.m., at The Living Room. Bidding will continue through the next day, ending at 5 p.m on Saturday, June 6.

Saturday, June 6

Wine tasting benefit: Hors d'oeuvres and wine tasting from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Episcopal Parish Church Parish Hall to raise funds for Louise Sasan, who is battling breast cancer. Tickets are $30 and available at Teezer's Coffee Shop, Ray’s Pharmacy, and Chez Chloe.

Young Eagles Day: Anyone between the ages of eight and 17 can take to the skies with experienced, local pilots. From 10 to 2 p.m. at the biplane hangar.

Orcas Island Community Band: Spring concert at 7:30 p.m. at Orcas Center. Admission by donation.

Family Dance: At the Oddfellows Hall rom 6 to 8p.m. Admission is $10 donation per family. Face painting, live music, bake sale and more. All-preschool fundraiser.

Sunday, June 7

Labyrinth on the Lawn: Community Labyrinth Walk on Emmanuel Parish Green, 9 a.m. to noon.

Orcas a Cappella: In concert at Orcas Center at 3 p.m. Tickets are $10.

Monday, June 8

Darvill's Bookclub: The selection for June is “Island Ebb and Flow” by Frances K. Lovering, described as a “a pioneer's

journal of life on Waldron Island.” The club will meet at 6:15 p.m. at Darvill's. All are welcome.

MONDAY – ONGOING

Duplicate Bridge: Every Monday at 7 p.m., Longhouse in Eastsound. For details call 376-2797 or 376-8278.

Chess: The Orcas Chess Club, Eastsound Library, 3:30 p.m., every Monday afternoon.

Al-Anon: The Al-Anon group on Orcas meets at 7:30 p.m. in the Old Parish Hall to the right of Emmanuel Episcopal Church.

TUESDAY – ONGOING

Open mic: Lower Tavern has open mic night weekly starting at 8:30 p.m. Jaen Black hosts.

THURSDAY – ONGOING

Open Mic Pizza Night: Weekly at Doe Bay Resort Cafe, benefits island nonprofits. Dinner from 6 to 10 p.m. and the Open Mic starts between 7 and 8 p.m.

SUNDAY – ONGOING

Ping Pong: West Beach Resort, 2 p.m. For more info, call Jamey Hanse at 376-2240.
