Big fish take top prizes

The American Legion 30th annual Salmon Derby held last weekend had 84 entrants and four big winners.

Howard Sinke from Ephrate, Wash. won first place and $1100 for his 17.2 oz. fish. Brett Bennett of Ferndale placed second and won $500 for his 16.525 oz. catch.

Blair Griffith from Custer, Wash. came in third with a 14.75 oz. beauty – he won $400. Con Russell of Eastsound brought in a 14.55 oz. catch and won $250.
