Orcas Family Connections (OFC), formally known as the Orcas Early Childhood Consortium, is serving as the family resource and referral agency on Orcas Island. “We have changed our names but not our mission!” says OFC president Ethna Flanagan.
Orcas Family Connections is made up of local community members and all the preschool directors. The organization provides the family resource and referral services that were previously provided by Children’s House. Erin O’Dell, the OFC Family Advocate, is currently using office space donated by Children’s House and is available on her cell (360) 298-2456 or via email at erinsodell@gmail.com
The services offered by OFC include family advocacy, referrals to local, county and state agencies and will connect families to local special programs such as Island Hardware’s Coats for Kids, Island’s Market Holiday Giving Tree, Darville’s Learning Tree and the Kindergarten Transition Program.Plans for the near future include parenting classes and other outreach programs for island families.
“We are in a time of exciting growth and expansion, and are seeking new board members from the Orcas Community,” says Flanagan If you are interested in learning more about our organization, please call Flanagan at 376-6068 or ethnaflanagan@gmail.com
