Last week, long-time boat owners who moored their vessels at Rosario Marina were asked to find new berths for their boats.

Tony Lee, owner of the Morning Star, said that he’d received a registered letter on Oct. 14 informing him that his boat had to leave the marina by Oct. 26.

The letter stated that failure to vacate by the deadline may mean the boat would be removed at the owner’s expense, Lee said.

Christopher Peacock, former marketing director of Rosario Resort said that the former owners, Olympus Real Estate Partners, issued the notice in the process of closing the resort.

It’s up to the new owners to decide what happens with the marina, said Peacock. “The new ownership will take over a totally closed resort.”

The auction sale of Rosario for $5.45 million, is expected to close on Oct. 30, Peacock said.

Jerrel (Jerry) Barto, the new owner of Rosario, is a resident of Anacortes and heads a company that is involved in oil production, environmental remediation and commercial and residential development.

According to a Barto company website, “The first Barto company was founded over 30 years ago by Jerrel (Jerry) Barto as a commercial and residential development firm in Southern California.

“Today, business activities have expanded to include crude oil production, petroleum refining, real estate development and environmental remediation. The company’s policy of acquiring key personnel along with properties and businesses has been a cornerstone to its success and has contributed to its impressive safety record, operating economics and efficiencies, and environmental consciousness.”
