Bless the beasts

On Sunday, Oct. 5 at 10:15 am, there will be a Blessing of Pets and Animals at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in downtown Eastsound.
The ceremony is in celebration of “our common love of God’s creatures in the spirit of St. Francis,” according to Cheryl Danskin, event organizer.
Worship services will occur on the waterfront of Emmanuel Episcopal Church at 9 a.m. The blessing of the animals in the churchyard will take place at 10:15 a.m.
The public is invited to bring pets to the church yard for the blessing. Alternatively, people are welcome to bring a picture or some memento of a favorite pet. “All creatures great and small are welcome, including teddy bears.”
