Winfred Taylor to show work at Enzo's
October 29, 2010 · 1:05 PM
Local artist Winfred Taylor will be showing his artwork at Enzo's Gallery Cafe from Nov. 1 through Dec. 12. He invites community members to join him at a Nov. 7 reception at the cafe from 5 to 8 p.m.
The bulk of his paintings include clouds and an expansive sky.
“I often approach the canvas with only a few colors in mind,” said Taylor. “I have been painting since the late eighties and drawing for as long as I can remember.”
An Ohio born artist, Taylor moved to Seattle in 1987 and to Orcas in 2008. He was a self-taught artist at a young age and began showing his work just after grade school, at times appearing in citywide shows and juried competitions. He later studied a variety of arts, literature and psychology at the University of Washington School of Arts.
Taylor said he prefers to show at “more pedestrian places that reach the everyday person.”
“Whether catching the richness of a luminous sunset or the depth of the soothing blues of the Pacific Northwest,” said Taylor, “I consider paintings a healthy approach to work out all the uncertainties life has to offer, as well as a record of what I believe are important joyous moments.”
